Valentine's Scavenger Hunt

I forgot to mention on my last post about the scavenger hunt I made up for my kids on Valentine's Day. That was fun coming up with riddles and then watching the kids trying to figure out what they meant!

I had cut out 4 hearts of construction paper (2 pink and 2 red). On each heart I had a riddle that led them to the next clue. The final clue led them to their Valentine's Bag that I made them last year that was filled with some goodies (i.e. a toy, candy, etc).

Here's how it started:

HEART ONE: I handed them a heart that said,
"A Valentine's Day scavenger hunt...
NOW SCAT!
Please work together
for the next clue is under a mat"
(I hid it under one of our bathroom mats. LOL)
HEART TWO:
"You found your first clue,
but you're not done yet!
Four legs, a round top,
I'm under it....now get!"
(I hid it under our nook table)
HEART THREE:
"Well done hunters!
Find the next clue,
Movies stored around me
in a box, mostly for you!"
(I hid it in a storage box that's in the entertainment center w/ their DVD's)
HEART FOUR:
"Is this the last clue?
You've gone round and round.
Your gifts are spinning and drying
that's where they'll be found!"
(I hid their gifts in the dryer)
I can't wait to this again next year but will have to come up with different hiding spots!

This past week

Well, let's see, what has happened since last weekend?

Saturday hubby and I went to Daytona to watch the races. It was fun, but not so much for the Aaron's driver. He crashed on the 2nd lap. GEEZ! But we had a good time, Neal and I. I was happy to see a tire change up close and personal. See from the pictures:

Yep, we were sitting in the pit! THANK YOU AARON'S! It was definately loud, but exciting to watch. I would love to drive a car on this track.

Here is a picture of Neal and I that I wanted to get. We don't take too many pictures together. It was a VERY cold day. My feet were numb by the time we got back to the car and stayed that way for a while too!

The next day, Sunday, was Valentine's Day (and it was also our little boy's 2nd birthday)! We had stayed the night at my parent's house. The kids had fun with their Mema and PapPap (they always do)! Colton got a birthday cake there and also when we got home. Talk about a party weekend for the kids! LOL

He got some really soft pajammies from Mema and PapPap. THANK YOU!

We left early from my parents home to come home so that we could do a little tidying up before my sister-in-law and her family came over, and the other set of grandparents. We had a good, quiet visit with all of them. The kids had fun playing with their cousins too.

Here are some pictures of Colton opening up a present from his Auntie, Uncle and cousins and his cake.

Colton wasn't sure of the fire on this candle. We were warned the night before from my parents that he didn't like the candle lit either on the cake my parents got him. :( Well, at least he knows not to mess with fire!

And this picture cracks me up. I think that Morgan made the mistake of getting Colt on this scooter and pushing him because now he gets on it, both feet, and then looks at his sister's to go push him around! LOL That will get old fast! hahahaha

Anything with wheels this boy loves! He's 2 now. Time sure flew by. I miss having the little bundle in my arms all snug as a bug. :( Time to have another one.....NOT!

The rest of the week has been a roller coaster. Neal got some news from work. They had to re-align his region because someone resigned. What does that mean for our family? Well...let's just say that Neal was right when we decided to rent this house we are in now...."When are we ever going to live on the water again?" Thru this weekend I thought that it was going to happen. We even looked into it for when this lease was up. But as of Tuesday...not gonna happen. We have to move again, which we knew we would because of this lease, but this time we have to move pretty much BACK to where we came from. OY VEY!

We went from living in the most northern point of his region to now being in the most southern point of his region after the re-alignment! UGH! Well at least we can say that we lived in the middle for about 1.5 months! hahaha It was so nice having Neal home a little earlier, the kids seeing him before they went to bed and for him to sleep in a little compared to before.

I guess things happen for a reason. We just have to deal with the cards that are dealt.

Well, it's Friday. I'm looking forward to the weekend. Nothing real exciting planned. Just have to get our kitchen faucet fixed, our fence in the back put up so the kids and the dog don't go jumping in the canal and I'm sure laundry is involved. I know that tomorrow night we are going out to eat with some friends and I can't wait for that! When food is involved I'm ALWAYS game! hahaha

Have a nice and safe weekend!

Etsy shop feature

I've been working on something this week for my Etsy shop, but that's all I can say right now. Don't know if it will work, but I can only hope. Here is a picture of one of the things that I did get to create and have listed in my store...clay flower embellishments.

These were fun to make and I can't wait to work on more! Here is the listing for the mini clay buttons.

I also got a special order for my decorative stick pins that I'm going to work on today! So excited and can't wait to see how these will turn out since they will be in different colors. I will have to post those once I'm done.

Today I'm just running a couple of errands and then back home to finish up some laundry and pack a little bag for our little trip to Orlando/Daytona. I'm bringing my camera and plenty of batteries so I better use it for this weekend. Okay, gotta get the kids ready for school!

Good times

Well, last night we had a Super Bowl Party at our house with some of Neal's co-workers/friends and it was blast. LOTS of food and good times. We have so much food leftover (even after sending food home with people) that I have planned out our week's menu and then some.

I've already figured out pretty much the entire menu for the month of February! I'm so glad. No BIG shopping (and that means saving) except the basics (i.e. milk, produce, bread). YIPPEE!!

Next weekend we are going to my parent house for the weekend. First we will drop the kids off on Saturday while Neal and I go to Daytona for the Daytona International Speedway Drive4COPD 300 with his work. I don't know what to expect except loud noice and cars. Should be a fun time spent with hubby (don't get to many of those). Then back to my parents house to spend the evening with them. We will stay there and wake up on Valentine's there and my parents get to see Colton on his birthday. Can't believe our little man is going to be 2 already! TIME IS GOING BY TOO FAST!!

We aren't having a party for him b/c he won't know it. It's more for the parents at this age. BUT I will have a little something for him when we get home. AND will have something for all the kids for Valentine's day. We'll have to make a stop at the grocery store on the way home Sunday so that we can get the girls some fresh flowers. They love getting that on Vday! :)

Well, enjoy your week. The house is getting re-stucco'd and painted so loudness and messiness outside. Just doing some cleaning today and laundry. Tata

Stepping out of my comfort zone

Well today I did something that was very uncomfortable but needed. I went and applied for a job...at a daycare/preschool. It was really weird having to fill out a job application. I've been so out of the loop for so long. It just didn't feel right! I went blank at times trying to figure out dates and names. Being a stay-at-home mom has been the best job ever. I don't want to have to go to work but I know that I have too. I've got to pay off some debt that I've accrued on myself and be responsible. :( If not, things will get ugly!

Anywho, back to the application...I felt so out of it filling it out! I felt like I didn't have any experience to show. That's not true, but being away for 5.5 years is way to long! And WHY a daycare/preschool? I want to work while the kids are in school...well, the girls anyways. Colton can come with me to work, just not by my side. He'll be somewhere I know is safe and I can still be with him. Wish me luck!

I'd rather win the lotto, but...gotta play the lotto to win the lotto!
